Iran do Espirito Santo's photograms are made by moving a black sheet of paper at precise points over the photographic paper and allowing it to block the light for varying amounts of time. The effect is a subtle gradation from dark to light. Iran has made the photograms with both horizontal and vertical gradations and with lines of varying thickness. All five works in the Edition of 5 + 2AP are exactly the same, however, and made with the same orientation and thickness.
