‘I’m looking at Uber in the studio . Before I named it uber I named it ‘car’ and I named it glass of water…I wanted to tell a bit of the story that I was seduced by the groove of a cup holder in the back seat of a car. We have these plastic water glasses (small cups) with aluminium foil on top and blue lettering on top –that Ive seen all my life. Im happy because this gave me the opportunity to mess around with some 70’s curve composition type which really intrigues me. It’s the type of image that we’re looking at right now.
I forgot now the name of this American painting that paints these airbrush mirrors (Deborah…?) that kind of thing.
It is also the first time that I ever used aluminium. So I have a cup here and I saw that aluminium element. That chance to have those two objects touching – those two metals touching…and also I have a moment of courage here that I’m using oil paint in a very touristic way- very watery and it shows some properties of the oil against all of the other properties that I don’t deal with in my work. These are three materials and temperatures that keep me interested.
