'Elsa Schiaparelli' Kristen McMenamy, Hydra

A favourite among the avant-garde of the 1930s, Italian fashion designer Elsa SCHIAPARELLI (1890–1973) closed her legendary house in 1954. Entrepreneur Diego Della Valle acquired the name in 2007, and this year invited Christian Lacroix to design an 18-piece haute couture collection to officially reinaugurate the label. 032c commissioned Juergen Teller and Kristen McMenamy to capture his tribute to Schiaparelli on a Greek island in the Aegean Sea.

Title: Kristen McMenamy No.10, Hydra 2013

Kristen McMenamy: Juergen has photographed Kristen since 1993 (Ad campaigns - Katherine Hamnett, Helmut Lang, Marc Jacobs and Editorial: i-D magazine, French Vogue, British Vogue, W magazine, 032c, Arena Homme Plus)
Famous shoot for Süddeutsche Zeitung magazin and i-D in 1996 (Versace heart)

Where was it shot: Hydra, Greece (exact location unknown)

What camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark III
2013 was a pivotal year in which Juergen started to shoot digitally for both commercial and personal jobs rather than on analogue film. This was one of the first jobs shot on a digital DSLR in mid 2013 (although he had previously shot digitally on a Olympus Pen E-P2 for the 'Eating at Hotel Il Pellicano’ book in 2010). He continued to shoot on both formats, gradually reducing the use of analogue film until the last film shot in mid 2014, after which he shot exclusively on digital format.

What format: Digital 35mm
