Untitled is one of four sculptures Mendieta made concurrently on the beach of Guanabo, Cuba. These works were recorded through both still and moving images. They were created soon after she made the Esculturas Rupestres (Rupestrian Sculptures) in Jaruco. 1981 marks the last year Mendieta worked in film and video, creating only one additional moving image work after this series at Guanabo. Untitled is newly mastered and was exhibited at the gallery in Paris in 2018, and again at the gallery in New York in our exhibition that just closed.
